Wedding Planning: Car rides between stores

Picture this: You and your lady are driving between two stores that are not your favorite (Example: A tuxedo store where you had to try on three different tuxes and a wedding decoration store). You're both stressed and a little frazzled with the prices of things. You feel dirty and awkward from having to change clothes in a store, she's stressed out about how she's going to make all of the decorations happen. It's a quiet car ride
not because you're mad at each other but because you've been talking so much in the stores it's
a little hard to think of things to say between them.

Sounds like it could get tense fast, right? Dang right. You ask a question about the price of a decoration, she's tries to get you to tell her which tux design you liked more, either of you mentions the price of gas, it could get bad. If any of you are managing to plan a wedding completely stress free, please share your secret!

Here are a few things Kacie and I have found help with these in between store car rides that could turn stressful:

Listen to light hearted music

This might sound simple or even silly, but we've found this helps a lot. (One of our favorite songs is: Myspace Girl by The Afters. It's a little creepy, but it's funny and easy to sing along to...if you have the windows rolled up). It's just something funny to do to keep you both feeling good.

Hold hands

Obviously you have to do this safely, but if you can drive with one hand for a while it can be really comforting to hold hands for a while between shops.

Leave stressful topics alone for a bit

If you're both already stressed to the max, a car ride between stores is not a good time to finish an argument or difficult discussion. It's much, much better to hold off on tense discussion until you've both relaxed a little and don't feel snippy.

Laugh a little

You like each other (I hope!)! Laugh a little in the car when you are travelling back and forth. Enjoy your partners sense of humor.
