The Avengers!

I went to my second midnight showing last night at The Avengers opening! (My first was Hunger Games not that long ago. I'm really starting to live it up).

This time it was with most of my roommates. We all piled into cars and drove away at around 10:45 pm. We got there around an hour before the show, found seats and waited. It was a bit of a long wait. That was when a game called Reactor came in handy. We spent the majority of the hour challenging each other to matches (and I spent most of the time realizing I'm not as fast as I think I am).

Then the movie started! And it was excellent. I like super hero movies in general, but I'll be the first one to admit they can be a little over done and perhaps a little cheesy. They usually have a plot that they wind up taking a little too seriously. A good example was Thor. The plot was interesting enough, but the movie was so intent on making their dramatic ending it got a little heavy. I still enjoyed Thor, just thought it could have been a little better done.

The Avengers had some moments of a very serious plot (Slight spoiler) for instance, when Loki threatens to kill someone slowly using all of the ways they fear the most. But this was interspersed with moments of extreme humor (SPOILER: When Loki tries to mind control iron man, but his scepter just "clinks" off of the device in his chest). The movie never took itself too seriously, but delivered an entertaining movie and seemed to enjoy doing it.

We got back at 3 am. I think part of the fun of going to a midnight showing is going to work the next day bleary eyed and disheveled. I missed out on that. I don't have class until 11:10 am on Fridays, and normally I tried to get up and be active, but today I decided to sleep in. Thus, I was able to go to class well rested and with my eyes looking normal after enjoying a very good movie.
