Mother Vs. Computer

My mother is an incredibly brilliant woman. That isn't just the opinion of her kid either. She was an RN for years. When she went with my father (A heart doctor) to one of his classes in med school, the professor tried to pick on the visitor by asking her a question well above her nurse's training. She knew
the answer and explained it better than he could have. She's brilliant.

She also loves to do things on her own. When I moved out of the house, she took on responsibilities as the household computer repair technician and she's loved it. She's the only woman in her 50's that I know who actually goes to forums like Droid Life and Android Central to figure out problems with her smart phone.

Most of her computer problems she can figure out on her own, but occasionaly she needs help. When she has trouble her favorite local computer store is always ready to help and give her advice. Except one time. There was one time that she walked in and explained the issue she was having and the employee told her, "You just won't be able to figure this out." Big. Mistake. (I think the store actually fired this guy not long after. We haven't seen him there in months).

There are two things in my mother's life you do not attack: her kids, and her problem solving abilities. If she wasn't determined to solve her own computer problems before, she was after that. She attacked the concept with a new tenacity. A few weeks ago she went in to get help trying to fix her CD drive. This employee has probably seen my mother there before, and he knew how to deal with her better. He offered her a few suggestions on how to fix her computer. When she didn't understand a few of the terms he used, he wrote them down for her and off she went to google. She researched the terms and understood them in a matter of days.

To date, my mother has reimaged a computer several times, replaced hard drives, CD drives, video cards, monitor cables, and managed to reset the GPS on her Android.

Mother: 6. Computer: 0.

I know some Computer Science majors who can barely compete with that record.
